PhlPost Postal ID

My very first government campaign with PHLPOST.
When I began acting this year, every now and then I see friends in the industry sharing their commercials, billboard campaign and infomercial . I’ve seen them on my Facebook timeline, Twitter, youtube and other countless websites — always captioned “OMG! My first!”. Never in my life had I thought that one day I would actually find myself in a film studio, shooting a commercial for Government. I’m not saying I never wanted to try it, it’s just… That kind of thought never really crossed my mind. Yet, some time ago I got the amazing opportunity to see for myself what shooting an infomercial looks like. And today I’d like to share my experience with you.
The Preparation

I had to wake up by 4am because I was asked to be at the studio by 6am.

So here I am excited and packed with at least 3 kinds of long sleeves polo and 2 pairs of slacks.

While on my way to the location, I had to ran-through again and again and familiarized with the script and the sequence breakdown.

The Location

I came in very early. About an hour prior to the call time. So I was able to witness how the production people designed the set up. They were all professionals. They were able to build the bank studio in no time. They gave me Jollibee Breakfast Meal with coffee as breakfast.

My leading lady for this campaign, Hanna Ramil who came in without make up looking so fresh. She asked, can I have my breakfast too? She is so easy to work with. After minutes, we became an instant friends. Up to this day we call each other "PARTNER"

The Make-up Artist arrived, and right after we finished our breakfast we are at her make up chair.

And we are ready; we were both happy that they chose a lighter make up for out shoot.

The bank sequence was done by lunchtime, but before we headed to the next venue, the PhlPost General Manager paid a visit to check the shoot. We were relieved that he told me and Hannah that we are exactly what the PhilPost campaign is looking for. For whatever reasons those may be, i t'd like to think that those were positive remarks. Aheem!

Off to the 2nd Location

While waiting for another set-up;

Making an infomercial requires much more time, more acting and more people than I had imagined. There were probably more than 15 staff members — the director, assistants, choreographers, scenographers, make-up artists powdering our noses every 3 minutes, special effects people (notice the white wall and how it transformed in the actual video, people taking care of the food… They were all really lovely though. Kind, helpful, supportive… The list of superlatives is really long.

and, IT'S A WRAP

The atmosphere was really laid-back, we could joke around and simply have fun, doing our job at the same time.

It was my very first experience of this sort and I can say with confidence that I wouldn’t mind doing it again one day!

Leo's Warrior; Son of August

My Birthday Month

I was in my mid-teens when i came across this passage "An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward"

So when life is dragging you back with difficulties,it means that its going to launch into something GREAT ..."

But only until recently that I really came vis-a-vis with its truest essence.

I hit the rock bottom in the past few months. I was really feeling down. I quit my job. I've known new quality people that during my lowest of low there presence made me bridge the gap. People that inspires me and motivate me to continue and push through with my passion, with the things that I really would like end up doing for the rest of my life- Acting.

This year, my birth month is extra special. I had a chance to do project for Cinemalaya 2015. A special project of Director Real Florido (my 1st ko si 3rde Director)

I also wrapped up filming Direk Arlyn DelaCruz' Tibak, Ang Kwento ng Kabataang Makabayan, a full lenth movie.

My first government infomercial as a Brand Ambassador for PhlPost Postal ID had been released.

I acted for TFC Global Kapamilya Seasonal Plug which has Global release via TFC channel abroad.

Joined GMA 7's top-rating teleserye Marimar.

A writing job for IMAGES ASIA, an upscale magazine as their newest Feature Writer.

All these happened during my birthday Month. And I can wish for a brighter and better future for me.

Sabi nga "TULOY LANG ANG LABAN" and  will definitely fight for my dream.

BUHAY AKTOR: Bibo in MULI

The Making of Muli.
A Rio Cruz Film
Holy Cow Production DLSU

MULI will always have a special spot in my heart being my first short film for a thesis.

I remember when I went back to Manila on the onset of 2015 from my Christmas vacation, I promised myself to give acting a chance. And then I started going to an audition.

I did not intentionally audition for the role of Inigo, but it was an open edition for the graduating class of DLSU, the Producer (Mace), scriptwriter (Marielle) and the director approached if I could read their script before I leave, and so I did.

And a week after I got a call from them asking me to collaborate on their thesis film. Yey!

At the De LaSalle Unviersity for the open audition for thesis film

Script Reading and Meeting with the prod  and these 2 kids  at Fisher Mall where everything was discussed; from TF to logistics and locations of the shoot and the script.

Finally got my script.

And the sequence breakdown

I was having jitters because this is going to be my first time to act with Film students.

Day 1

Excited while waiting for my pick up.

My lifeline in the next 3 days

A quick stop-over to gas up and dinner

and we have arrived at our destination

Trying to scare the prod, but failed.  Goodnight for Day 2

Good Morning. Early Morning call time.

Great view to resume our filming

3rd Day Shoot in Manila

At 4:00am and trying to stay wide awake. Finally the Director shouted : "It's a Wrap"

My first thesis film experience was all about the fundamentals. Applying everything I learned from the workshop I attended last year. And this keeps me motivated and at the same time get to learn from these people I worked with.
