BACK TO SCHOOL

It has been years since I was out from college. And I am forever grateful for the learnings I gain from one of the best institutions in the world.

So for this "back to school" photo-ops with Joseph and for Jolly's Men's make-up  portfolio, there shouldn't be any other place to shoot than my home for 5 years--- UP Diliman.

I still imagine going back schooling and further my studies and here's probably what I'd be wearing if I were a school boy again (Mostly local retails to meet the budget, but I will definitely vouch the quality and the comfort).

I could still pass as a college dude, yes? Hahaha

1st look:

What I am wearing: Black Top from F&H, Jeans from Fubu, Cardigan from Memo, Sling Bag from Bally

2nd look:

What I'm wearing: College Button Down Top (Bench), Pants (FUBU), Watch (Kenneth Cole), Bracelet ( iMorellato)

3rd Look:

What I'm Wearing: Plaids that I used to sell for Bazaar

(A blog has been posted about my love affair with plaid last year for some of my most favorite pieces)

Ooops, here's more: BTS from the photoshoot

Translación

A Project of UP Professor and Filmmaker Christian Tablazon that was featured on Transit. I am proud that I am part of this (silent) film. It's been said that this particular (short) film took him more than 1 year to finish. I am glad of the final result.

I was wearing wig the whole time with no dialogue.

I am also excited for the release of the full-length film Pagbagting sa Guwang (Strumming the Void) which will be released soon that I am also part of and played the lead character Nathan (last minute replacement but still landed it, haha). Never really consider to do it professionally. Though I had my share of doing some small TV roles before. Gig lang kumbaga. At least nagawa ko in my lifetime. haha

I am sharing the video and the article (AS-IS) written by the filmmaker himself

Mga Tala

By: Christian Tablazon

The project owes its title to Gino Razon for having relayed the details of the procession of the feast of the Black Nazarene and the ritual being named as such. While this video is basically concerned with the body’s experience as a medium in moments of temporal ‘translation’, the term not only recalls its etymology but also accommodates the inherent parallel between the denotative act of translation and notions of transfer, passage, and deposition, vis-à-vis (in the context of the said Quiapo rites and of the Christian translation of relics in general) the potentially numinous. By passage I also have in mind the connotations invoked by Francisco Benitez that he presumes to have been lost in the Spanish renderings of the phrase pinagdaanang buhay in the corrido titles of Ibong Adarna.

Titik ng “Ako ay Kapitbahay” ng Batibot (1984-2002) at dalawang linya ng awit sa larong langit-lupa ang mga taludtod na ginamit sa video.

Sinipi ang mga sumusunod sa mga tutukuying dasal:

“namatay at ibinaon. Nanaog sa mga impiyerno; nang may ikatlong araw nabuhay na mag-uli” at ““Doon magmumula’t pariritong huhukom sa nangabubuhay at nangamatay na tao” sa “Kredo ng Apostoles” o “Sumasampalataya Ako”;

“pagkakatawang-tao, pagkamatay at pagkabuhay mag-uli, ipagkaloob Mo, hinihiling namin sa Iyo, na sa pagninilay-nilay namin nitong mga misteryo” sa “Pagtapos ng dasal” ng Ang Santo Rosaryo;

“at saka kung matapos yaring pagpanaw sa amin,/ ipakita mo sa amin” at “Ay aba, pintakasi ka namin, ilingon mo sa amin” sa “Aba Po Santa Mariang Hari”;

“ang sa amin ay dumating,/ magdaraang parang hangin” at “Akdodam. Akdodam. Akdodam” sa “Dasal 26: Para sa kapanganiban (Sapin-sapin)” ng Mga Dasal at mga Panalangin ng Espiritu Santo;

“Kapara nang sa una, gayon din ngayon at magpakilan pa man sa walang hanggan” sa “Luwalhati sa Ama”;

“sapagka’t lubha akong nagkasala sa isip, sa wika at sa gawa, at sa aking pagkukulang: dahil sa aking sala, sa aking sala, sa aking pinakamalaking sala” sa “Pambungad na awit” ng Santa Misa;

“ngayon at kung kami’y mamamatay” sa “Aba Ginoong Maria”;

“ang aming mga kahinlog, ang aming mga anak,/ ang aming mga kamag-anak,/ ang aming ina, ang aming ama,/ ang aming mga kalapit-bahay” sa “Panalangin 39: Kupkupin Mo ako” ng Mga Dasal at mga Panalangin ng Espiritu Santo;

“ang aking mga iiwanan/ at gayon din ang aming mga daratnan” sa “Panalangin 20: Para sa paglalakbay” ng Mga Dasal at mga Panalangin ng Espiritu Santo;

“sa araw na ito at sa lahat ng oras” sa “Panalangin 13: Bago magkomunyon” ng Mga Dasal at mga Panalangin ng Espiritu Santo;

SEe you aRound

(and my attempt for freeverse poetry. Nothing personal though. hinugot sa lumang karanasan)

Why am I so weirdly sentimental about you?

We’re still friends and I’m not sure whether to be eternally grateful or heartbroken.

We both know that this isn’t going to work out in the end. Especially since neither of us is trying. But, in case you forgot, I love you and always will.

I keep hoping that by the time this gets posted, we’ll be together again. But I guess it’s safe to say you will always be the one that got away.

LIDZ, BIBS & ZANDS

And our attempt for that so called CARINDERIA Dream.. hahaha (My Throwback this week and my open letter to my childhood friend Lidz who is getting married)

With One Month to go until your big day, I wanted to take a moment to share my love, give you some unsolicited advice I can think of (haha) and these pictures (hahaha) I've kept of us three (you, me and Zandra).

Your wedding day is all at once a very BIG day- we know this. How I wish we can all go back to high-school years. But enjoy yourself, laugh and take every moment they create: the beginning of this next chapter of your life.

Oops; still have to do my homework for you!

Oh Sandra!

Overheard someone saying "Grabe teh ang Gravity, overhyped lang" But being a huge fan of Sandra Bullock (I remember one of the first hollywood movies I've seen was Demolition Man opposite Sylvester Stallone during my early grade school) off to cinema I go.

Gravity is actually a very good movie. I give it a 9. The story might have revolved only with Sandra and George being stranded in space. But I give more props as to how the story was told. It's not too cluttered with over the top visual effects and the silence during the collision scene gives it a more thrilling impact. Sames vibes as 127 hours, the human will to survive. On more than one occasion, I found myself in an open-mouthed amazement as to what I was seeing on the big screen. Gravity deserves the hype.

I was mermerized. It was a true masterclass in acting. When the antagonist is not a person but the circumstances, it's difficult but Sandra nailed it.

A second Oscar trophy isn't far from happening.

Connected by Blood

I just had a bittersweet dream. I found something only to lose it. I thought it was a real bad dream but i realized that anything you lose comes around in another form.

To you and to your family: Treasured in my heart you'll stay, until we meet again some day.

VALIDATE THYSELF

From JOSEPH NUNEZ Photography ( Circa 2012)

 The thing that is really hard, and really amazing, is giving up on being perfect and beginning the work of becoming yourself.

Master of Ceremonies

I ain't Mario Lopez nor Ryan Seacrest , (though I've been told that my looks will make a run for their money.. hahaha- yabang lang. lol)  I consider it as a compliment and not a task every time I am ask to host for a wedding reception or program. Afterall, it is always nice to witness a union of two lovebirds. And it is nicer to be given a task as an Emcee for their big day together as one, I am a believer that the highest happiness on earth is the happiness of marriage.

This year- I have been given the task to be the wedding reception host for the union of 3 lovely couples.

And I am sharing memories of these 2 wedding ceremonies that are really special.

1st: Larry & Neri Wedding

"The Rose-Scott Wedding"

Rose has been a great mentor of mine. We were colleagues for 1 year in the company I worked for in Mckinley. And I remember even before the engagement, she already asked me that I should be the host once she gets married. So I wasn't surprised when even if I was already working for a different company and she called me up and reminded me of our agreement.

Reunited with some old peers

And as always for my closing spiel: Well I guess that's about everything ladies and gentlemen we finally come to the end of our program. It has been a great day and a wonderful evening with you all. Again thank you all for your presence. god bless and Goodnight to each and everyone.

My next Wedding Host Gig: November 23 for Lida & Roy Wedding at the Island Paradise SAMAR!

My Childhood Sweetheart Just Got Married!

(Late Post but Blog-worthy)

With skin as white as Snow White. And a voice as sweet as Arielle.

---I remember having a huge crush on this then 7 year- old Grade 1 Classmate of mine in Samar.  Her Name is Celeste.

---I remember sending her home after school before I head home ( I was barely 9 years old on my 3rd grade).

---I remember how I cried when I learned that she was going to Manila to study High-school after our elementary Graduation.

When she returned to Samar on our 3rd year in High-School as a transferee, I already had an eye for someone else. Silly me.. and the magic died. But we remain really good friends.

Even during our College days here in Manila- i went to UP and she studied in Mary Chiles College we would always hang out as if we were still HS classmates along with our batchmates. Our batch remains solid.

So when I got a call that I will be part of her big day- it was bittersweet for me. Because I am reminded that yes- we're getting older and she would always remain  that Celeste that I once, in my life, dreamt of being a partner for life. hahaha

Best Wishes Celeste and Archie.

My Congratulations to the both of you. May you have a lasting union.
